Volcom Skate event

I didn't make it to the balloon festival but i did manage to get some photos at the Volcom 'Give Jeans a Chance' tour stop in Woden. The Volcom skateboard team was collecting 2nd hand jeans for homeless people throughout Australia.

Week Two

-Basics


  • Start shooting.

  • The the overall shot.

  • Move in to tell the story.

  • If your not close enough the image wont be good enough.

  • Keep shooting untill the action is over.

  • Arrive early and stay late.

  • Meet the deadline.

  • Back up.

-Angles and Perspective



  • Low - Can give power to an image.

  • High - You may need to hold you camera above your head. High angles can create vulnerability.

-Technical Strategies



  • Preset the camera.

  • Decide how you will frame the scene.

  • Use auto focus.

  • Stay on the subject.

  • Anticipation/timing.

  • Faces and hands capture emotion.

-Staying alive



  • Stay mentally alert.

  • Saftey training.

  • Protective clothing, footwear etc.

  • Get sleep.

  • Water purifying tablets.

  • Never gobackfor your camera.

  • Know your limits take breaks.

  • Know how to deal with stress.

-Features Vs. News



  • News pictures are over in a day.

  • Features pictures are timeless.
